FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT DO SMALL COILS DO DIFFERENTLY COMPARED TO LARGER ONES?
Smaller coils are great for the little nuggets, less than half a gram, which are reasonably close to the surface (within 100mm). They are great for areas that have been surfaced down to bedrock.
They're also good for species that don’t have a lot of gold in them, so ideal for detecting exposed reefs. Their physical size makes them ideal for working heavily vegetated areas and creeks with large rocks.
Larger coils can detect targets deeper, but only when the targets are larger. They are not as sensitive to the tiny nuggets. They cover a lot more ground for each swing but can be difficult in areas where there is a lot of vegetation.
For small coils the field is smaller than the larger coils, but with smaller coils you have a tighter field so sensitivity is improved. Larger coils fields are broader and less sensitive but can punch deeper into the ground than the small coils.
ARE NUGGET FINDER COILS WATERPROOF?
If you have a fully submersible coil then water will not damage the coil and it can be fully submerged in creeks, streams, puddles etc. Waterproof ratings are listed on the individual product listings at Detect-Ed Australia, explore to learn more!
